LORD, let me know clearly the work you are calling me to do in life, and grant me every grace I need to answer your call with courage, love, and lasting dedication to your will. AMEN. | ||

Vocare in Oklahoma | |
Vocare in Oklahoma technically began a generation ago. Our diocese held two Vocare weekends, but the movement wasn't self-sustaining.
Then, in the fall of 2003 several students at the University of Tulsa and the University of Oklahoma began thinking about bringing Vocare back to our own diocese. Dr. Julio Diaz, lay chaplain of the U. Tulsa Episcopal Student group, spoke with some clergy and his peers in other university chaplaincies around the diocese. Georgia Henry, sponsor of Diocesan Youth Board, mentioned the program to Youth Board members. Rev. Nancy Brown, of St. John's Tulsa, expressed her excitement about this young adult ministry. Then, with a hope for their own future activity in diocesan life, the Youth Board granted our group of young adults a generous $500 gift to help bring Vocare to our diocese. The response was huge. In March, 2004, the Rev. Nancy Brown led 13 young adults to Camp Allen in the Diocese of Texas to take part in their 49th Vocare weekend. After experiencing the ministry of Vocare, these young adults began work to establish Vocare as a vibrant part of life in the Diocese of Oklahoma. On January 21, 2005, our first Vocare weekend will begin. Pray for the participants and staff of this weekend, and for the success of this ministry. With the support of the whole diocese we can vitalize the young adult community of our diocese, and continue in our diocesan mission to restore all people to unity in Christ. |
